Port Arthur provides Positively Protein to patients

Dec 02, 2015

Port-Arthur_Protein-Lobby-Day_story.jpgDo you know the size of one serving of red meat?  Approximately how many grams of protein should you have for breakfast?  Name three ways to eat salmon.  If you can't answer these questions, the new cookbook Positively Protein is here to help!  Made possible by the RV Difference committee and RVM dietitians, the book was distributed to all centers and Port Arthur staff held lobby days on November 23 and 24 to promote it to patients.

Port Arthur Dietitian Rosario Quirante prepared two recipes from Positively Protein (tuna salad and lemon treats) to pass out to patients.  After tasting the delicious, protein-packed foods, patients were excited to receive the guide/cookbook.

"Patients were very appreciative when they received Positively Protein as this opens another promising and creative avenue for the high protein cooking adventure at home!" said Quirante.

Positively-Protein-cover_story_RVnet.jpgThe guide/cookbook has information about your protein portions and shows you how much protein you should be eating.  If you are looking for creative ways to include more protein in your diet, perhaps protein supplements are the way to go.  You can mix them into your scrambled eggs, stir into applesauce of hot cereals, or substitute protein powder for flour in recipes for cookies, pancakes, or muffins.

- Download a copy of Positively Protein and help your body build muscle, repair tissues, and fight infections
