Infusion patients, RVM staff collect and deliver toys to Children's Hospital

There were no Grinches this year as many generous infusion patients, Infusion Center of Denver employees and Renal Ventures employees donated three wheelbarrows full of toys to the Children's Hospital of Colorado for the 3rd annual toy drive. Several RVM and Infusion Center employees on the RV Difference committee loaded up their vehicles with the toys and delivered them on December 18 to the staff at Children's Hospital for distribution to the kids who are treated in the Rheumatology department and Infusion center.
Many toys were donated with additional ones purchased from Target. The retail chain was so moved when RV Difference committee members told them about the toy drive for Children's Hospital, that they footed the bill for half of the total, thus donating $200 of toys.
After donating the toys, the RVM and Infusion Center employees were taken on a tour of the two departments by Children's Hospital nurse Kassie. The Rheumatology department sees patients as young as 18 months, but most patients are ages 9 and up. The Infusion area at the hospital had several stations set up with room for kids to play video games, read and visit with family during treatments. The staff was very appreciative of the gifts as a large percentage of the kids' families may not have the financial resources to give gifts this holiday season.
Infusion Center Administrative Assistant Heather Kimball and Director of Marketing Kim Travis spearheaded the drive. "We're so glad to be able to give back to community with the toy drive as we consider it very important to help out these kids at Children's Hospital," said Kimball.
RVM staff who visited Children's Hospital to drop off the toys, and whose hearts grew several sizes larger, included: Recruiting Coordinator Evan Stratton, Accounts Receivable Specialist Pam Giesler, Infusion Accounts Receivable Specialist Trevor Mello, Social Media Digital Content Intern Brienne Jepkema, Kimball and Digital Marketing and Communications Specialist Jonathan Thornton.
