Choose a variety of foods
- Eat 3 balanced meals and at least 1-2 snacks
- Breads, Cereals, Rice, Pasta
- Crackers, Rolls, Popcorn, Baked chips
- Bagels, Cream of Wheat, Oatmeal, Cold cereals
- Fruit or fruit juice
- Milk or yogurt
- Limit intake of concentrated sweets and desserts
- Limit intake of saturated fats, trans fat and dietary cholesterol.
- Include lean protein foods with meals and snacks
- Learn to read labels
- Take insulin or pills for your diabetes as the doctor ordered
- Lose weight if you are overweight
- Try to limit stress as much as possible
- Check your blood glucose as prescribed and understand your levels
- Talk to your Dietitian if you need help with your meal plan
